Sangeetha’s Murukku Festival 2025

A Crunchy Celebration of Culture, Craft, and Childhood Memories

Why a Murukku Festival?

At Sangeetha Veg Restaurant, food isn’t just a dish on a plate — it’s a story, a sentiment, a memory. For nearly four decades, we’ve served recipes passed down through generations, infused with love and tradition. This Janmashtami, we’re paying tribute to one of Tamil Nadu’s most iconic snacks — the humble Murukku — by hosting a one-of-a-kind Murukku Festival.

Murukku, with its distinctive twisted shape and satisfying crunch, is more than just a snack. It’s the flavour of grandmother’s kitchens, the aroma of festival mornings, and the joy of evening tea-time tales. It reminds us of simpler times, shared plates, and carefree childhoods. This year, we’re bringing it all back — in over 20 delightful forms — for you to enjoy, share, and celebrate.

A Festival That Lives in Every Crunch

As the week-long Murukku Festival draws to a close, what stays with us is more than just the aftertaste of a crunchy snack. It’s the memories we rekindle, the stories we revisit, and the joy we pass around — just like a tin of murukku shared during evening tea.

At Sangeetha, our goal isn’t just to serve good food — it’s to celebrate the culture that surrounds it. The Murukku Festival was born out of a simple thought: to bring back the delight of old-school snacking in a world that’s constantly rushing. For one week, we wanted to slow things down — to give you something to bite into that felt familiar, comforting, and rooted.

Each murukku on your plate has been thoughtfully prepared using time-honoured recipes, handpicked ingredients, and the same attention to detail you’d find in your paati’s kitchen. Whether it’s the fiery crunch of the spicy ribbon murukku

or the subtle flavour of butter murukku, every bite is a nod to the countless households where these snacks are still shaped by hand and stored in steel dabbas with floral lids.

More than a festival, this was a tribute to the little things — to school tiffins packed with kai murukku, to temple prasadams wrapped in banana leaf, to that irresistible smell of hot oil and asafoetida from your neighbour’s kitchen during Gokulashtami. We wanted to bring all that back, even if just for a moment.

And while the festival may end on August 16th, the spirit doesn’t. You can still drop by our selected outlets and ask for your favourite murukku variety. You can still take home a tin, store it in your pantry, and smile every time you open it. Because at Sangeetha, tradition is not a week-long affair — it’s a part of everything we do.

We thank you for being a part of this crunchy celebration of culture. For every smile you gave us after the first bite. For every childhood memory you shared with us at the counter. And for reminding us why we do what we do.Until next time,Keep the tradition alive.Keep crunching.
